Nozawa Onsen has an elevation gain of 1,085 meters. Steep descents on or off the slopes are guaranteed. In terms of size, history and snow quality, Nozawa is definitely one of the best in Japan. You can ski well into early May.

Cross country
Worldclass cross country course in beautiful mountain scenery @ Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort. Partly thanks to hosting the 1998 Nagano Olympics Nordic Biathlon.
Get away from the crowds and enjoy the slide through the local forest.
Beginner up to Advance lessons/tours can be arranged in English, German or Japanese.
Snowshoe
Get away from it all and enjoy the wonderful nature around Nozawa Onsen. You can go and explore by yourself or with a Guide and hike some of the surrounding peaks or a nearby lake. Enjoy breathtaking views towards the Japanese Alps while spotting wildlife tracks and if you get really lucky you might even see a Kamoshika (local mountain serrow)

Snow monkeys
Only 40 minutes by car live the world famous snow monkeys. You can reach the fury creatures with your own car, tour or public transport on a half or day trip from Nozawa Onsen.
